It's Christmas!!

It's already over and done. How sad :( But it was fun! Cole conveniently learned how to say "Santa" yesterday and he would say it over and over every time he looked at the little footies of his fleece pajamas. He's still not old enough to really get what Santa is and everything so I'm excited for next year!! Santa brought him some blocks and a huge truck! (He thought the truck was way cooler than the blocks...) Not sure how we're going to get that truck back home; there's no way it's going to fit in our suitcases! It might just be one of those toys that stays at grandma and grandpa's house.

We did a little last minute nativity play last night and of course Cole was little baby Jesus even though he's not so little anymore. We also had a pinata which I filmed and that I'll have to post later. Steve's family has some fun Christmas traditions! I'm just so happy that it snowed and that I could spend Christmas with my little family. I have a lot to be grateful for :)

Happy Christmas Eve!

I've wanted a white Christmas for as long as I can remember and if I'm remembering it right, I don't think it's been a white Christmas for me since I was a little girl so this Christmas is a dream come true! We took these pictures this morning (thanks to my father in law, he is awesome!) and now we're decorating the little Christmas tree in the house while listening to Christmas music. It's a perfect Christmas holiday and I couldn't be happier. My heart is full; I love my little family so much, I'm blessed to have such loving in-laws and I love and miss my own family in faraway Germany.

Merry Christmas to everyone from the Byers! We hope that it's spent with your loved ones and that you remember the reason for the season :)

A very snowy birthday

I wanted to make sure that Cole had a super fun birthday so it snowed for us just in time! I was only worried because there's another wedding reception tomorrow (I really shouldn't even be writing this post....) and it's been really busy here. But when we woke up yesterday on Cole's birthday, the very first thing we did was put our snow gear on (Cole is literally wearing four layers.) and we headed outside. At first he refused to wear the new hat and mittens I got for him for his birthday (so perfect for snow!!!!) but after falling down a few times he decided the snow didn't feel too hot on his little fingers. I'm so glad he decided to let me put his hat and mittens on him because I thought he looked so cute in them :) He helped daddy and grandpa shovel the driveway, got into everything in the garage and played a little basketball.

Once the mittens warmed up his fingers, he was all about going exploring in the woods which is also Steve's parents' backyard. The deer would get so close to us and the boys had fun pointing them out and sneaking up on them :) Cole wasn't so sure about sledding though. He went down once with Steve and then he was over it which surprised me; I thought he would have been more into it. I guess it scared him!

By 10 am, we had already spent two hours out in the snow, with plenty of day left. He took at 3 and a half hour nap, I was able to help out with the wedding preparations and in the evening we went to Cafe Rio for his birthday dinner. I just really wanted Cole to have a fun day and I think he really did after rocking out to Imagine Dragons and Fun in the car. That little boy really loves a song with a beat :) We topped the day off with a helium balloon for him to play with which he looooved and cupcakes and presents! He probably really got spoiled but what can you expect when you're at grandma and grandpa's? ;)

I just hope he knows how much we love him. He is everything to us and we're so glad he's ours. Happy second birthday munchkin man! We love you!
